LIGHTNING PROTECTION
A Lightning Protection System provides a safe pathway for energy from a lightning strike to find its way to earth. The purpose of this is to direct a surge away from vital building components that are liable to conduct electricity. This is due to the nature of a lightning strike finding its nearest route to earth, normally through metallic building components like electrical wiring and water pipes. When the overwhelming energy from a strike travels through building components instead of its dedicated conductor, damage is inevitable. Causing not only financial problems but huge safety risks.

We provide in depth LPS designs tailored to your infrastructures needs, the purpose of the building will depict the class of protection needed, which is all provided in our service. All systems are to be designed to BS EN 62305, although in instances where this is not possible we will provide designs for an ESE system to be installed. We understand that different clients have different preferences which is why we work inclusively with our clients to design systems to their predilection.
DESIGN

Following on from the design process comes installation. We work alongside site hierarchy to carry out installation works safely. Given the nature of our work being at height we take extra care when compiling site relevant method statements and work strictly to these documents. During the installation stages we will provide a structured scope of works and keep all relevant personnel in the loop, with this in mind we require contact with affiliated contractors on site to aid untroubled installations.
INSTALLATION

Lightning Protection Systems need to be annually tested and inspected to ensure compliance is maintained. Through general building wear and tear and/or adverse weather conditions it is likely systems are effected. Our tests and inspections are in place to keep systems fully functional and to the standard they was installed to. If systems are found to be inadequate then relevant remedial works will be quoted for. Once these works are carried out and the system is back to full compliance then certification will be provided which will be valid until the next annual inspection.
